For every 10 tickets amount of snacks sold is 3*2.25+4*1.5+2*1=\$14.75, hence amount of the snacks sales per ticket is \$14.75/10=~\$1.48.

The manager of a theater noted that for every 10 admissions tickets sold, the theater sells 3 bags of popcorn at 2.25 \$ each, 4 sodas at 1.50 \$ each and 2 candy bars at 1.00\$ each. To the nearest cent, what is the average (arithmetic mean) amount of these snacks sales per ticket sold?

Amount of snacks sold for 10 tickets = (2.25*3 + 4*1.5 + 2*1)\$ = (6.75 + 6 + 2)\$ = 14.75\$

Avg amount of snacks sales per ticket sold = 14.75 \$/10 = 1.475\$

10 = 3 * 2.25 + 4 * 1.50 + 2 * 1
10 = 6.75 + 6 + 2
10 = 14.75
Average per ticket = Total Sales / Total number of tickets = 14.75 / 10 = 1.48

The average is the following:

(3 x 2.25 + 4 x 1.5 + 2 x 1) / 10

(6.75 + 6 + 2) / 10

14.75/10 = 1.475 ≈ \$1.48
