Hi All,

This prompt is an example of a 'unit conversion' question. The math itself won't be that difficult, but we have to pay careful attention to make sure that we're properly converting the units. The answer choices to this question also provide a great 'pattern-matching' shortcut that will help you to avoid some of the math....

We're told that the moon revolves around the earth at a speed of approximately 1.02 KILOMETERS per SECOND. We're asked for the approximate speed is KILOMETERS PER HOUR...

There are....
60 seconds in 1 minute
60 minutes in 1 hour
So 1 hour = (60 minutes)(60 seconds/minute) = 3600 seconds

The moon's speed, in kilometers per hour is (1.02 km/second)(3600 seconds)

Since 1.02 is greater than 1, there's only one answer that fits the given numbers....

Final Answer:

GMAT assassins aren't born, they're made,

moon revolves around the earth at a speed of 1.02kilometers per second.

one hour equal to 60 minutes.
one minute equals to 60 seconds. so one hour equals to 3600seconds.

so one hour, speed= 1.02*3600=3672kilometers per hour.

Option E is correct

1.02 km in 1 sec
in 60 secs = 1.02 *60
in 60 mins = 1.02*60*60 = 36*102 = 3600+72 = 3672
