A conveys the meaning clearly.

measurements will help the scientists. This has to be clear in the sentence.

Hi

"ever more precise" what does it mean?
more precise than ever?

Isn't it awkward? sounds weird , since it sounds "evermore" ="forever" or in a future time

ever more precise ---> the most precise to date

I agree, it is a rather antiquated construction. Nevertheless, the best amongst the worst here.
