preservation and continued --> not parallel

will go for B.
as committed as -- correct idiom

he was ...to preserving the continues use of Yiddish as he was .. to the study of the great universal works of English

D, C and E – “as … as” Idiom issue
A preservation and continued use of – sounding illogical

This is a Comparison problem. In the original sense of the sentence, Howe was as committed to X... as he was to Y...Eliminate C, D, and E. The preservation is more parallel with the study than is preserving with the study. The correct answer is A.

preservation and continued use is parallel. continued is an adjective here.
