Official Explanation

The sentence is correct as written. The only question is whether the present tense of the verb is correct. In this case, the sentence uses the present tense, “closes,” to assert that this is the usual practice of the doctor. Each alternative answer choice changes the meaning of the sentence.

Thus, each alternative choice is incorrect, because it makes a gratuitous change from the original and in so doing, changes the intent of the original sentence.

The correct answer is (A).
