To protest what? In this instance, only one of choices can come after "protest" and answers the question "to protest what?" So, D.

B,C and E are out because of using themselves....A is out because of using being....D also expresses the same thing, which A express without 'being'....so IMO D

even i fell into the same trap
I choose D.........

but later when i saw the post the answer was A.........

nice question........ but guyzz see we are still lagging in some or the other way in SC.........

OA is A.

I also chose D and was not sure how A could be right. I think, if we replace "being" with "getting" in option A, it makes sense.

Was confused with A and D option. Don't know on what basis A is the answer. Kindly explain

Possessive + gerund is generally considered awkward in GMAT - hence option A and D both seem awkward. Nonetheless, the passive form, the nurses are overworked (implies that they are compelled), is better than the active form, the nurses overwork (may imply they overwork intentionally). A is the passive form of D, and hence better. In the real test, you would probably not come across such a construction.
