'B' - The original sentence makes it sound like the Parthenon is usually the right size for a Doric temple but in this instance it is become larger. I think the intent of the sentence was to say that the Parthenon is not the right size for a Doric temple.

The Parthenon is larger than (usual) for a Doric temple, with eight columns on the short sides

- I'd go in with B

Substituted, it would read as: The Parthenon is larger than (what is usually the size of a) Doric temple, with eight columns on the short sides.

Hi Maaverick Dont you think you are missing something ..

In my Opinion "usual" & "usually" dosen't mean the same... one is acting as an adjective and the other as "adverb" so uyou sentence

" The Parthenon is larger than (what is usually =/ usual (choice B) the size of a) Doric temple, with eight columns on the short sides".

Please correct me if i am on wrong track. I am Newbie learning how to tackle GMAT.

Thanks a lot

Will go with A.

larger than usual is the correct format. "is" isnt required here. 'larger than is usual' is extremely awkward.
