As rectangle Y is square. And perimeter will be same as of Rectangle x
So side of rectangle y is 240/4 = 60
Since we know length & width of rectangle x increased & decreased by 10.
(60-10) × (60+10) = 50×70
= 3500
IMO - C

Pls give kudos, if you find my explanation good enough.

Rectangle X : 2(l+w) = 240 => l+w = 120 ---(1)
Rectangle Y : L = l-10 W = w+10
Since Y is a square , L=W => l=w+20 ---(2)
Solving (1) and (2) , we get l=70 and w=50
Hence area of Rectangle x = 3500

Let the side of square y be l

Sides of rectangle x = {l+10,l-10}

Perimeter = 2 (l+10+l-10) = 4l = 240
l = 60
Sides of rectangle x = {70,50}

Area of rectangle x = 70*50=3500

Hope you will correct it.
