The quantity \(\sqrt{6.4*10^7}\). equals which of the following?

(A) 800
(B) 3,200
(C) 4,000
(D) 8,000
(E) 80,000

We can change the expression to read:

√(64 x 10^6) = √64 x √(10^6) = 8 x 10^3 = 8 x 1000 = 8000

\(\sqrt{6.4*10^7}\)

\(=\sqrt{\frac{64}{10}*10^7}\)

\(=\sqrt{64*10^6}\)

\(=\sqrt{8^2*10^6}\)

\(= 8*10^3\)

\(= 8000\), Answer must be (D)
