What is the minimal range? I think that there can be the only range: the maximum-the minimum.

salaries in 1999 can be 1 and 241; the range is 240
salaries in 2000 can be 2 and 322; the range is 320
so, what is the minimal range? 2-1? 322-241? 322-1?

I think there is not enough info to answer the question.

Here is my guessing:
Ranges can overlap, one can include the other, one may noy not intersect the other. I think that the minimal range here is the one embracing the other. In this case it is 320.
