F/M=5x/4x

Given
5x+4x+4=94
x= 10

New ratio = 52/42
= 26/21

# of female workers =f
#of male workers =m
f:m = 5:4 => f= 5x; m=4x
If 2 additional men and an equal number of women are hired the total number of employees becomes 94
=> m'=m+2; f'=f+2;
m+2 + f+2 = 94
9x + 4 =94 => x=10;

new ratio =f:m = 5x+2: 4x+2 =52:42 = 26:21

Hi
you have correctly calculated the x, the proportionality factor for the ratio.
But there is an error in method of finding of new ratio.

New ratio = (5x+2)/(4x+2) = 52/42 = 26/21.

\(\frac{Female}{Male} = \frac{5x}{4x}\)

So, \((5x + 2) + (4x + 2) = 94\)

Or, \(9x = 90\)

So, \(x = 10\)

Thus, ratio of males to females after hiring is \(\frac{52}{42} = \frac{26}{21}\), answer must be (E)
