The residents’ opposition to the spraying program has rekindled an old debate among those who oppose the use of pesticides and those who feel that the pesticides are necessary to save the trees.

(A) among those who oppose the use of pesticides and
(B) between those who oppose the use of pesticides and
(C) among those opposing the use of pesticides with
(D) between those who oppose the use of pesticides with
(E) among those opposing the use of pesticides and

[Reveal] Spoiler: Confusion
This is one of the problem wherein I get confused with the usage of "among" and "between"..
I know between is used for comparison between 2 ppl and among is used when there are more than 2 ppl...

The question says..opposition...among those who oppose...doesn't that refer to a set of group or a set of people.

Pls help!

Between can be used to compare any TWO like entities, not just the person. Thus, it can ideally be used to compare groups as in this case.

The residents’ opposition to the spraying program has rekindled an old debate
between
those who oppose the use of pesticides=> One group
AND
those who feel that the pesticides are necessary => Another group

Also, "AND" is always used with between

Idiomatic:
Between X and Y.

Non-idiomatic
Among X and Y.
Among X with Y.
Between X with Y.

"among" is usually followed by a superlative form.
Among the cars in the display, the red one is the most attractive one.

straight B. Remember 'among' is used for many, 'between' is used for two.
