Hi,

C seems like a better option than D.
How can we use Singular and Plural to refer to the same subject?

I think a comma pair is missing in original sentence. The set of propositions, Which were discussed by panel, has been published. This correction explains the sentence. Its logical to say panel discussed propositions rather than saying they discussed set. As propositions are plural were maintains SV agreement.

As i know avoid eliminating an answer for misplaced comma on GMAT

Expert mikemcgarry GMATNinja Vyshak hazelnut sayantanc2k please guide...In my views Option C must be the answer, we cannot use both singular and plural verbs together in the same option unless the subject changes....Moreover here as per the sentence structure and meaning essential modifier must be used i.e. "that" instead of "which" non essential modifier.....Please give your views

The set of propositions which was discussed by the panel have been published in the society journal.
Lets now break the sentence and read it once again.
Whats was discussed :- Prepositions -plural
What is published:- The Set (which comprised of prepositions)-singular

In option D- "which" is referring to Prepositions hence the use of "were" is apt.

The correct statement would look like :
The set of propositions which were discussed by the panel has been published in the society journal.

OA is correct.. It has to be D

In this question, what does the "which" modify? "Propositions" or "the set of propositions"?
