The size of a television screen is given as the length of the screenтАЩs diagonal. If the screens were flat, then the area of a square 21-inch screen would be how many square inches greater than the area of a square 19-inch screen?

Can u post an explaination.

These are square tellies. Just use the pythagorean theorm = a^2 + a^2 = c^2 (assuming a=b). simplifies to 2a^2=c^2 or a^2=c^2/2

thus setup your equation

19^2/2 = 180.5

21^2/2 = 220.5

difference is: 40

Hope this helps.
