Thank you beckee and crape. I have a question:

Is what in red an acceptable phase?

to take credit for the genesis of historic programs in public employment, relief, and social security for which the two women were in large measure responsible

between B and A.

I like B, more clearly written, generally try to avoid 'for' to end sentence if you can. B does that.

OA=B

I don't think this is a difficult question. Just that last part of B threw me off...

Hi guys,

You all made great points, i would just like to add that "what they had been responsible for" is not clear as to which it refers to ....the women or the "social security, work, ets"
When they specify the women in B makes it all clearer.
Thank you all for your great contribution, i learned lots from all of you.

Is B really a complete sentence?

Neither First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt nor Secretary of Labor Frances Perkins sought recognition by the press, and both cautiously allowed others ... to take credit for the genesis of historic programs ... for which the two women were in large measure responsible
