Those who claim that the Kribki Company is poorly managed often cite, as evidence, the fact that the Kribki Company has twice as many complaints listed against it on a popular complaint website than its nearest competitor. However, this data does not necessarily prove that the Kribki Company is poorly managed because ____________________.

Which of the following best completes the argument above?

(A) the Kribki Company also has a lot of loyal customers who have great things to say about it
(B) the website on which the complaints are listed started operations only one year ago whereas the Kribki Company has been in the business for more than three decades
(C) the Kribki Company has twice as many people manning its customer service department than its nearest competitor
(D) the Kribki Company has six times as many customers as its nearest competitor
(E) the Kribki Company does eventually manage to resolve the complaint of most of its customers

The argument talks about the reason given by people who claim Kribiki company is poorly managed is that - it has twice as many complaints as the nearest competitor on a popular complaint website. However [ Here comes the author's opinion ] data does not prove Company poorly managed because ---

Now, we need to find a flaw in the data in original reasoning by people who claim Company is poorly managed.

Let us look at the options...

(A) the Kribki Company also has a lot of loyal customers who have great things to say about it WRONG - Says nothing about data being incorrect.
(B) the website on which the complaints are listed started operations only one year ago whereas the Kribki Company has been in the business for more than three decades WRONG -Again says nothing about data being incorrect
(C) the Kribki Company has twice as many people manning its customer service department than its nearest competitor WRONG - More reason to have fewer complaints - if the # of complaints are more despite this than surely something must be wrong...
(D) the Kribki Company has six times as many customers as its nearest competitor CORRECT - More six times the total # of customers but only two times the # of complaints... Hence a flaw with the data as presented
(E) the Kribki Company does eventually manage to resolve the complaint of most of its customers WRONG - Beyond scope.

Hence Option (D) is our choice.

Best,
G

D is the correct answer.

As per the argument "the Kribki Company has twice as many complaints listed against it on a popular complaint website than its nearest competitor". if the number of customers base is much larger than twice, it will explain why the company has reason to say that it is not poorly managed. Its listed complaints are only twice than that of the competitor while the number of customers is six times that of competitor.
