Though looking less distinctive than many of their highly sought-after purebred counterparts, mixed-breed dogs, born from genetically disparate parents—they usually display various physical characteristics from each parent—often they are healthier and thus increasingly popular.

1. This topic exploits the wrong structural construction of sentences.
2. Unnecessary off intrusion off pronouns will lead to double subjecting errors.

A. Though looking less distinctive than many of their highly sought-after purebred counterparts, mixed-breed dogs, born from genetically disparate parents --- lacks a verb for the main clause. A fragment by structure,

B. Though mixed-breed dogs, born from genetically disparate parents, look less distinctive than their highly sought-after purebred counterparts ---Looks okay, This is the correct choice

C. Though they look less distinctive than many of their highly sought-after purebred counterparts, mixed-breed dogs, born from genetically disparate parents --- lacks a verb for the main clause.

D. Born from genetically disparate parents, mixed-breed dogs look less distinctive than many of their highly sought-after purebred counterparts—this is a run-on sentence

E. Mixed-breed dogs, born from genetically disparate parents, though they look less distinctive than many of their highly sought-after purebred counterparts --- no verb for the main part.

OFFICIAL EXPLANATION

The sentence as it is written is confusing. Our subject, "mixed-breed dogs," has description before and after it, which makes it difficult to keep track of the information in the sentence. Since the original is confusing, we can move on to (B).

There's still a lot of detail, but we can follow what's happening in (B); the thread of the sentence is clear: "Though mixed-breed dogs...look less distinctive...." Choice (C) makes the same mistake as choice (A): it's almost impossible to discover what we're actually talking about ("mixed-breed dogs") because it's buried in other details.

Choice (D) might seem like an improvement, but without the "Though [something)" structure, the assertion that mixed-breeds are "often healthier"
doesn't work. The construction "Mixed-breed dogs...though they look...." in (E) makes no sense.

The correct answer is Choice (B).

A. Though looking less distinctive than many of their highly sought-after purebred counterparts, mixed-breed dogs, born from genetically disparate parents - mixed-breed dogs doesn't have a verb even after the hyphens

B. Though mixed-breed dogs, born from genetically disparate parents, look less distinctive than their highly sought-after purebred counterparts - Seems fine when put in the sentence

C. Though they look less distinctive than many of their highly sought-after purebred counterparts, mixed-breed dogs, born from genetically disparate parents - Same as (A)

D. Born from genetically disparate parents, mixed-breed dogs look less distinctive than many of their highly sought-after purebred counterparts - Doesn't seem any grammatical error but it doesn't have a contrast as depicted in original sentence using though

E. Mixed-breed dogs, born from genetically disparate parents, though they look less distinctive than many of their highly sought-after purebred counterparts - No verb for Mixed-breed dogs

(B) is the correct answer.
