from given info we know
50+40*(x-1) = 70+50*(x-2)
where x is number of days
solve for x = 4
option B

To rent a car, company A charges a fee of $50 for the first day and $40 per day for each additional day thereafter. To rent the same car, company B charges $35 for each of the first two days and $50 per day for each day thereafter. Assuming a customer rents a car for more than two days, how many days would a car have to be rented so that the total rental cost would be equal for company A and for company B?

(A) 3 days
(B) 4 days
(C) 5 days
(D) 6 days
(E) 7 days

Given,
Company A:
First Day rental- $50
Thereafter, $40/day

Company B:
1st & 2nd Day rental- $35
Thereafter, $50/day

Rental for 2 days:
Company A: $50 + $40 =$90
Company A: $35 + $35 =$70

Let no. of days car rented after 2 days be x
90 + 40x = 70 + 50x
x=2

So total no. of days = 2+2 = 4 days
