TOEFL, only a requirement?

Hi! I always have the question whether the TOEFL score is only a requirement or whether it gives you more chances to be admited (in the case of you have a higher score). For example, in the case of Stanford whose requirement for the TOEFL is 100. Will a guy with a score of 112 have more chances than a guy with a score of 109? What do you think? Thank you!

All other things being equal between two candidates, then maybe it makes a slightly difference to have a better score. Otherwise I don't think it really matters.
However, if your score is borderline (lets say 100 for Stanford), they might have some doubts, but between 112 and 109 there is no difference.

I have another question, and what could happen if my score is borderline? Let's say that my score is 103 and the average score in TOEFL for Stanford and Wharton is 109. Is that a big disadvantage? PS. Stanford requirement is 100, and Wharton doesn't have a specific score.

I don't think is a big difference 103 to 109, and there are many other things on your application that count a lot more. I asked that question to an AdCom member and she said that it didn't matter much. I suggest you to ask the question in the Wharton S2S Forum to get a more accurate answer: http://engage.wharton.upenn.edu/MBA/forums/
