Hi all,
I took the test today. I got 690 (just short of my goal of 700+
)
Anyway I am not thrilled about this but not terribly upset as well.
I believe that 690 is a okay score and allows me to apply to most of the schools of my choice, hence I am not planning to take the test again. Any suggestions are welcome. If anyone feels that a second attempt will be a wise choice, please let me know.
Math part was much harder on actual test than I thought and thats why I missed my mark of 700. I had three probability questions, one combination question and one with parabola. Ended up getting 46 scaled score. (I got 49 and 51 on PP)
Verbal was better than my practice scores. Got four RCs. two with 35 lines each and one with 55 lines and fourth was 75 lines near the end. Scaled score: 38
AWA was vague but i had enough practice so did not bother me at all.
Study material:
I studied Kaplan , Arco and Power Prep.
Kaplan scores were 540, 610, 580, 630
Arco scores were 610, 640, 620, 690
PP1:690 PP2:700
As you can see PP is the most accurate.
Arco material is useless. I got it just for the test practice. It has 5 tests. After four tests i started to see repeat questions. So PR practice tests may be better.
Kaplan is very good. Strongly recommended.
I did not use
OG , I do not think it would have made a difference anyway.
Study time:
Overall I studied for 8 weeks . Completed Kaplan first. Took a full test almost every weekend. Busy work schedule and travel hampers the motivation for studies . Further I found the GMAT experience very boaring. At my age, (I have been out of school for 8 years) it is frustrating to calculate ages of teens, number of pencils, or number of men with black hair..etc. CR is also very boaring: reading about Greek empire, social unrest in 18th century...terrible.... This site helped me to get motivated and stay focused.
This site is great and I would like to thank all the partcipants. Probability and combination questions posted on this site are very good and very helpful.
Well, I am moving on and now focus is on the most important part that is essays.
Good luck to you all.
