Darren Aronofsky movies:
in order:
Requiem for a Dream (Cost of addiction)
Black Swan (Cost of obtaining perfection)
The Wrestler (Sacrifices to find lost glory)
The Fighter (Redemption, achieving in the face of adversity, overcoming past and present circumstance)
The Fountain (Losing loved ones)
Don't watch all at once, it will make you suicidal. I mean, his happiest movie is "The Fighter", which looks like the little mermaid if you compare it to Requiem for a Dream. Dark powerful stuff.
Also, another note, Lux Aeterna (song from RFAD soundtrack) makes anything 100000x dramatic. You could watch someone peel a banana in a park, but with this music it makes it the most epic banana being peeled ever. You've heard this song before, but link below. It builds until like 2:20.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKLpJtvzlEISince these are miniseries, they cannot make the list, but I would just like to mention:
BAND OF BROTHERS! (Best media portrayal about WW2 ever. Rivals Schindler's list in quality. Steven Spielberg had a huge part of the making so heh, what can you expect I guess...)
Spartacus: Blood and Sand (All you Gladiator/Braveheart/300 fans, watch this, its like 300, but with actually compelling characters, plotlines, schemes and twists. Fantastic dialog too)
The Pacific (Loved the character focus, and also the fact that 1/10 films are about European theatre. I like the increased effort to look at the Pacific Theatre)
My favorite director too, humphy.
