So this fall it's back to school full time, and my question is what does everyone use for a laptop and gym bag? I'm hoping to find one that will also fit nominal books/papers/folders as well as gym clothes. Wishful thinking? Perhaps, but I'd rather not carry two seperate bags around campus.

Sounds like you should just get one bag, because you don't want 2 bags. is this that hard of a decision?

No such thing. It depends on you but I ended up buying more than one bag.

When school started, I bought a backpack for the first time since junior high school.

Jerz told me that backpacks aren't "cool" and that I should get a messenger bag instead. I told him that I think I will go with the backpack....

Then, during the semester, I ended up buying a messenger bag because well, I traditionally just like messenger bags more.... (wipe that grin off your face Jerz...you are not always right)

Then during the recruiting process, I realized that I needed another bag so I ended up getting this bag...

Then in an effort to find THE BAG of all the bags out there, that would fit everything, I ended up buying this last week..

Needless to say:

1) I buy way too many bags for a guy...
2) I have a feeling I will end up buying another bag in the future....

I need to save myself from...........myself?

Ok I guess I could be more productive in my response - sorry.

I am using a north face backpack with two areas and a net that expands if you have to hold something extra like shoes or gym clothes as a last resort. I also have a tumi shoulder bag that is really really durable. That cost 150 and I love it, would never buy the jack spade thing, you get good construction but not 250 good. I have other things to spend on like a smaller student loan.

I also have a "bank canvas" bag from the analyst days for gym clothes. Don't have any need at all to go more fashionable or get a status symbol.

i wouldnt get 1 bag for gym + books...unless you want your econ book to start smelling like you know what.

for the gym i just use a really old bag that someone gave me for free once. for books/laptop, i bought a pretty good nautica bookbag on sale at macys. it has a padded compartment for laptops and everything. total: \$20. legit

Haha, this discussion made me crack up. Nink, you do buy a lot of bags. Vanity much?

(I buy suitcases. Multiple ones. Stuff that can hold 75lbs type)

Is it a tough decision to make?
But anyways nautica bookbag will be good, it has sections for laptop and books, would cost around \$25.

Laptop computer Back packs usually have a special pocket or cushioned sleeve that is designed to house laptops away from other items in the rucksack. Generally, laptop and laptop products are sold by the dimension laptop, which means that you need to know the display dimension laptops to ensure that it will fit in the rucksack.

How about the Briggs & Riley Accelerate? It looks like a solid business backpack but it's really built for people who work AND go to the gym.
