Born and raised in a Hindu, merchant caste, family in coastal Gujarat, western India, and trained in law at the Inner Temple, London, Gandhi's first employment of non-violent civil disobedience was as an expatriate lawyer in South Africa, in the resident Indian community's struggle for civil rights.

A)Born and raised in a Hindu, merchant caste, family in coastal Gujarat, western India, and trained in law at the Inner Temple, London, Gandhi's first employment of non-violent civil disobedience was as an expatriate lawyer in South Africa,

B)Born and raised in a Hindu, merchant caste, family in coastal Gujarat, western India, and trained in law at the Inner Temple, London, Gandhi's first employment of non-violent civil disobedience was an expatriate lawyer in South Africa,

C)Born and raised in a Hindu, merchant caste, family in coastal Gujarat, western India, and trained in law at the Inner Temple, London, non-violent civil disobedience was first employed by Gandhi as an expatriate lawyer in South Africa,

D)Born and raised in a Hindu, merchant caste, family in coastal Gujarat, western India, trained in law at the Inner Temple, London, Gandhi first employed non-violent civil disobedience as an expatriate lawyer in South Africa,

E)Born and raised in a Hindu, merchant caste, family in coastal Gujarat, western India, and trained in law at the Inner Temple, London, Gandhi first employed non-violent civil disobedience as an expatriate lawyer in South Africa,

Answer : E

Explanation :

A, B and C have modifier problems. The starting modifier should modify "Gandhi" and not "Gandhi's first employment" or "non-violent civil disobedience". D is missing "and" without which the series of modifiers is incomplete. E is the only remaining choice.

The correct idiom here is cretdited with ==> eliminate A, B and E
The if you take the sentence as a whole you must have : Mary Kronenberg is dying OR died ==> therefore eliminate D

A) credited for her talent and her beauty, she was dying of a lung cancer. - Wrong idiom
B) credited for her talent and her beauty, was dying due to a lung cancer. - Wrong idiom
C) credited with having talent and beauty, died of a lung cancer. - CORRECT
D) credited with her talent and beauty, dying of a lung cancer. - wrong tense and credited with her is not correct
E) credited for her talent and beauty, died because of a lung cancer. - Wrong idiom

Here is a short RC passage from my side. It has originally taken from Swami Vivekananda's "Karma-Yoga". Although the Passage was superb, I could not create as good questions for it. Administrators of this thread can add few more questions if they found any scope.

Knowledge is inherent in man. No knowledge comes from outside; it is all inside. What we say a man "knows", should, in strict psychological language, be what he "discovers" or "unveils"; what a man "learns" is really what he "discovers", by taking the cover off his own soul, which is a mine of infinite knowledge.

We say Newton discovered gravitation. Was it sitting anywhere in a corner waiting for him? It was in his own mind; the time came and he found it out. All knowledge that the world has ever received comes from the mind; the infinite library of the universe is in your own mind. The external world is simply the suggestion, the occasion, which sets you to study your own mind, but the object of your study is always your own mind. The falling of an apple gave the Suggestion to Newton, and he studied his own mind. He rearranged all the previous links of thought in his mind and discovered a new link among them, which we call the law of gravitation. It was neither in the apple nor in anything in the centre of the earth. All knowledge, therefore, secular or spiritual, is in the human mind. In many cases it is not discovered, but remains covered, and when the covering is being slowly taken off, we say, "We are learning," and the advance of knowledge is made by the advance of this process of uncovering.

The man from whom this veil is being lifted is the more knowing man, the man upon whom it lies thick is ignorant, and the man from whom it has entirely gone is all-knowing, omniscient.

Q.1 :- What is the Primary Purpose of the Passage?
A) To establish that Newton’s discovery of Law of Gravitation was actually the process of rearrangement of thoughts of gravitation to which he was not unknown.
B) To state that knowing man is one who has completely removed the veil on his mind.
C) To explain the Process of learning.
D) To establish that Human mind possess all the knowledge and by the process of learning it only discovers for that knowledge at his own mind
E) To explain why Humans should study their own mind.

Answer : D

Q.2 :- With which of the following is the author most likely to agree?
1) Any human learns to discover the things unknown to him/her
2) Newton's discovery of gravity was only an uncovering of knowledge that he already possessed.
3) Students attend the schools to get the suggestions and discover the knowledge that their mind already posses.
4) We cannot differentiate between learned and unlearned man solely on his education.
5) Newton sat under the apple tree in order to connect the links of law of gravitation.

Answer : B

I would write brief explanation shortly. Difficulty level, IMO :- 600 - 650
