C)...this one is from OG. we need to repeat "tissues" because otherwise it is not clear to what the end of the sentence refers.

C it is.

The reason being tissues are compared wiht tissues. This has been discussed in the past so for better explanation from the SC gurus on this site, you might want to do a search and retrieve old threads.

maybe C) is wrong b/c of the commas. E) would be right with an "as" between "such" and "tooth".

E should be it...

need such as to give example of tissues...

C is wrong which seems to indicate that tissues are tooth and bone...

D has problems in which it is trying to compare the composition instead of tissues.

Fresinha

This looks like a question from the official guide.

In any case, i would like to caution you that you cannot post real gmat questions here.

the difference betwenn C and E is that "such as" is used to introduce a list of examples. if you say you went to a party and saw "people such as michael jackson and prince," then they were there. but f you say you went to a party and saw "ppl like michael jackson and prince," then they were probably not there. you just saw ppl that were "like" them. E) is the only one that is right because it lists tooth and bone as examples of tissue.

if the OA is E, then we have to assume that there is an "as" after such. BTW.. Can anyone explain the usage of the construct "in that they..". I didn't choose E initially, as I was not sure if this construct was correct.

No, the choice will be wrong if "as" is not present, besides "tissues such tooth and bone" doesn't make sense.
