I vote for c; because if you take c " ... In 1905 Bela Bartok and Zoltan Kodaly began their pioneering work in ethnomusicology, traveling the back roads of Hungary armed only..." it looks like short form of "ethnomusicology which traveled"

in c everything is clear to me but still I am not sure,
