Relative speed is 10 mile per hour and distance to travel is 20 miles. Time take to travel this distance is (20/10). Hence, it will take the black car 2 hours to cross the red car. Option E

time = distance between the cars/ relative speed.
relative speed here is 50-40 , since they are going in the same direction.
time= 20/50-40 = 2 hours.

Using the concept of relative speed in same direction gives Distance/Relative speed of black car to red.

i.e; 20/10 = 2hrs.

We can use the following formula:

time = (change in distance)/(change in rate)

time = 20/10 = 2 hours

Answer: E
