I think it's E .even on combining we don't know the Alex salary

Question : Who received greater raise in amount?

Statement 1: Alex received a 12% raise.
No information on raise received by scott also no information about the base value of Alex so the amount calculation for none of the two can be done.
NOT SUFFICIENT

Statement 2: After his 3% raise Scott's salary was $92,000.
No information about the raise achieved by scott but his base salary can be calculated.
No information about Alex and his base salary
NOT SUFFICIENT

Combining the two statements
Even after combining
- Neither do we have base salary of Alex
- Nor do we have raise obtained by Scott

NOT SUFFICIENT

We're asked to calculate the exact amount of the raise, perfect for a Precise approach.
Specifically, to complete the calculation we need a number (such as the salary before the raise) and a percent (such as the percent raise).
(1) gives us a percent for Alex but no number and no details about Scott, meaning we cannot calculate anything.
Insufficient!
(2) gives us a percent and an absolute value for Scott which allows us to calculate his raise. But we still have no information about Alex!
Insufficient.
Combining the two pieces of information, we're still missing an absolute number for Alex and so cannot compare their two raises.

(E) is our answer.

(1) Alex received a 12% raise.
we dont know the base salary of Alex plus we don't know base salary of Scott nor Scott's rise. Hence insufficient

(2) After his 3% raise Scott's salary was $92,000.
Base salary of Scott is $89,320. Raise is $2680.00. But insufficient to conclude whose salary is more.

Both together will also be insufficient as we do not have the base salary of Alex. It could be $100,000 or $100 theoretically and hence 12% raise will not give a permanent figure to compare with $2680.00 raise given to Scott.
