Let the capacity of a tank =96 lts
Pipe A efficiency = 4lts /min
Pipe B Efficiency =3 lts / min
In 18min A filled =18×4=72 Ltd
Remaining =96-72= 24 lts
Pipe B requires time =24/3 =8 min
Pipe B should be closed after 8 mins
Option B is the answer

A simpler way to look at it is .....
A works for the entire 18 minutes duration, so A finishes \(\frac{18}{24}=\frac{3}{4}\) work in this duration.
Therefore, the remaining work is done by B. If B does entire work in 32 minutes, it will do \(1\frac{}{4}^{th}\) work in \(32*\frac{1}{4}=8\) minutes.
