Has anyone here received dramatically uneven responses across their applications? For instance, an acceptance to HBS but a ding everywhere else? How common is it to get into 1 of the top 6 and not the others (if you applied to them)?

Just looking at people's profiles across this site, I've noticed some dramatically different outcomes. This process is so subjective, and there are so many variables, it's bound to happen.

It has happened before. It will happen again. It's just a question of WHEN?

I'm sorry. My nerves are completely shot( post interview blues)

it's very common to get rejected from lower ranked schools but get accepted to higher ranked ones. there are many reasons, sometimes lower ranked schools have high selectivity due to small class sizes (Yale and Haas come to mind). sometimes, school don't perceive you as a good fit for the school. sometimes, adcom might be having a bad day. who knows?

last year, jb32 got rejected from every top 20 school he applied except McCombs and Kellogg.

the take away is not to put all your eggs in one basket, especially when it comes to b-school. there's too many variables to be predictable.

wow that's pretty awesome. Kellogg is great. yes, the subjectivity is worse than I expected. I did very respectably Round 1 but Round 2 isn't going so well....
