Unlike fortune tellers, tarot card readers do not claim to be able to predict the future. Rather, they claim to offer an in-depth analysis of your present state of mind. Tarot reading is a legitimate practice, but fortune telling cannot be said to be based on scientific principles.

Explanation: the passage does not talk about horoscopes. Hence Irrelevant

C. Many tarot readers are unable to explain how they are able to provide such accurate readings even.
Explanation: Irrelevant

D. Many major events, like the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and the housing crash of 2008, were predicted by tarot card readers.
Explanation: Irrelevant

E. Tarot readings are based on the language of symbols,whose effect on the subconscious is documented by Carl Jung, a well known psychoanalytic theorist.
Explanation: This is the only option that strengthens the statement because as per the question, tarot readers give an in depth analysis based on the present state of mind.

E seems best: Tarot readings are based on the language of symbols,whose effect on the subconscious is documented by Carl Jung, a well known psychoanalytic theorist

conclusion is: Tarot reading is a legitimate practice, but fortune telling cannot be said to be based on scientific principles.

E hints at the fact that tarot reading is legitimate process
D, on the other hand, points at the accuracy of the process .

IMO E...
E says Tarot reading is a Documented theory and works on decisions taken by subconsious mind.
All other choices are unrelated or weaken the conclusion that tarot reading is a legitimate process.

How was D eliminated?

It is also strengthening the premise by stating that the tarot card readers' predictions were correct.
