Unlike most severance packages, which require workers to stay until the last day scheduled to collect, workers at the automobile company are eligible for its severance package even if they find a new job before they are terminated.

A. the last day scheduled to collect, workers at the automobile company are eligible for its severance package
B. the last day they are scheduled to collect, workers are eligible for the automobile company's severance package
C. their last scheduled day to collect, the automobile company offers its severance package to workers
D. their last scheduled day in order to collect, the automobile company's severance package is available to workers
E. the last day that they are scheduled to collect, the automobile company's severance package is available to workers

Narrowed down to two but picked the incrrect one.

D makes the most sense to me in context with the rest of the sentence

mmmm, me too, I'm between D and E

For me D has a flaw in using 'their' coz what does it refer to? packages or workers?
However, E has a similar flaw coz it happens the same with 'they'

Between these two options, I'd choose E

OA?

Cheers

(D)

A rotten old SC and a rotten old confusion about the meaning.

Ans should be D.

E is wrong because "which require workers to stay until the last day scheduled to collect" this does not reflet whose last day so we require referance for the workers, E is also repeting the same mistake and D is having their which refers to workers. there fore D

A, B and C are out.

Between D and E....E is incorrect. D correctly uses 'their' to refer to workers.

D it is.

OK, I think that according to E, which changes the meaning, it seems as if there were more than one day in which the workers collect.
Thoughts on that?

D is correct.

Unlike most severance packages, ................., the automobile company's severance package - is correct, so we narrow down to D & E.

After the comma, both options are same. Therefore, now we have to focus on the part that makes more sense between the two commas in the main sentence.

"workers" and "they" together does not make sense. Hence, E is out. We are left with D and "workers" and "their" is correct.

You are right on that too. E makes it sound as if it is referring to the last day of a few scheduled days.

I went back and forth between C and D too (picking C, ugh), but looking back, C's "to collect" does not separate out "their last day." After "C," you could ask "what are they collecting?" D seems to separate that clause out as a modifier.

Just my 2c.

OA IN SC 1000 Document shows "E". But i am not convinced. The reason for me to pick D as the best answer was the reference of "they" in the rest of the sentence directly to workers. In the option E - "they" refers more closely to severance packages.

it's b/w D and E. I picked E, as I felt 'their last scheduled day' in D is wrong.
Can experts explain why D is right and E is wrong.
