C it is.

It is a case of comparision.

"Unlike other arachnids" implies that we are comparing one type of arachnid with the class of arachnids.

Choice C is the only one that properly compares arachnids with the scorpion.

all the other choices improperly compare with "scorpion's nerve cells"(A); "scorpion's head"(B); nerve cells"(D); "a cluster of nerve cells"(E)

I also get C.

Arachnids is overall one group should be body instead of bodies. That rules out A and B. To me the ending in D and E seem very akward.

OA is C.

Why is it not bodies instead of body? We're talking about arachnids (plural).

it must be c. we should look at what is being compared; here we want to compared arachnids, so we must compare arachnids and scorpions. Only C offers this as the other choices compare arachnids and scorpion cells, etc.

Because you are talking about a group in general.

A group of people is coming tonight. (the group as a unit is pursuing a goal) (got this ex from englishforums)

(C)

The question starts with an implied/underlying sentence of: "Other arachnids have their nerve cells evenly distributed along their bodies." So to make things comparable we need a similar sentence structure: "The scorpion has a cluster of nerve cells in its head." Note that the other choices have either "nerve cells" or "head" as the object, which cannot be compared to "other arachnids". So (C) it is.

Sentence has comparison issue.

A) bodies, the scorpion's nerve cells are clustered in its head, like a mammal's. (Comparing other arachnids vs. the scorpion's nerve cells – eliminate it)

B) bodies, the scorpion's head has a cluster of nerve cells, as a mammal does(Comparing other arachnids vs. the scorpion's head – eliminate it)

C) body, the scorpion has a cluster of nerve cells in its head, as a mammal does (Hold it)

D) body, nerve cells are clustered in the scorpion's head, like a mammal's (Comparing other arachnids vs. nerve cells – eliminate it)

E) body, a cluster of nerve cells is in the scorpion's head, like a mammal's (Comparing other arachnids vs. a cluster of nerve cells – eliminate it)
