Yes, I believe D is the answer. No OA for this one.
But, there r ppl saying A is right.
"works" is not study, so the logic is we need "that"(which refer to study) in order to make the phrases parallel.
What do u think?

then, it should be "Blassingame's work's innovative study" for A to be correct.
