It is the touching that activates the animated functions of the piece. I think.

Looks D to me, but can not refute A and E. Because I have seen sometimes where which seems to refer to an action far away from the noun.

OE will help.

okdongdong, If you have an OE, please dont forget to post.

Another one for me. Careful thinking tells me it has to be A.

Here is my reasoning which I am extending from my previous post.

The sentence says that the visitor touch the exhibit and it is the touching of the exhibit that activates the animated functions of the piece.

I think Which in A refers to touching and moreover, touch has been stressed in A to indicate an action.

A is my choice.

Isnt there a confusion whether which refers to the touch or the piece

I was also thinking about A, but IMO its not correct one. which here clearly refers to exhibit not touch. here visitors are encouraged not only to touch each exhibit but also to activate the ...................

I chose A. However, looks like everyone else chose D.

I assumed 'which' clearly meant 'touch' (because of the quotes). Is there a difference between using 'activates' vs. 'activate'?

That was the reasoning I changed my choice. I think which in A clearly modifies "touch", which is what the author is testing here. That the touching initiated another action rather than 2 actions were done by the visitors.

I see only why (A) is correct but I do not see why it is the best answer.
What's wrong with (D)?

The official answer given by the BRUTAL SC is actually D.
shouldn't "activate" be parallel to "touch"?
visitors will "activate" the animated functions... not visitors will "activates" the animated functions.
and answer A... "exhibit, which thereby activates". the exhibit in itself doesn't activate. so the modifier is misplaced.. no?

Dear Prospect Mba - While D is without blinking an eye lid the correct answer - I had a different que to you - DO YOU HAVE THE KEY TO BRUTAL SC's?

On a side note - I really didn't understand what your que was

going with E

Reposting my choice - my thoughts are clearer today

A. exhibit, which thereby activates - wrong - since exhibit doesn't activates
B. exhibit, in turn an activation of - wrong - its odd "in turn"
C. exhibit, and it will activate - "It" has no clear referrant
D. exhibit and thereby activate - Correct
E. exhibit which, as a result, activates- wrong - since exhibit doesn't activates
