People out there,

My wife and I are in a quandry. Our Columbia ED essays are done, recos are in and we wanted to sumbit the whole package. NY is great, and we would love to go there. However , there is a little problem.

Due to certain recent happenings, it turns out that if admitted, we would not be able to pay in the complete amount of $6,000 * 2 = $12,000 that is the ED deposit. Now, I have mailed Columbia Adcom but very unusually, they havent replied.

So, any ideas if
1.) Columbia allows any waiver/ partial waiver of the Deposit amount?
2.) Failing above, does it provide financial aid (loans) for the ED amount ?

The deadline is approaching, and we would really be grateful for some insights. Failing this, we would have to apply in RD, that is in Jan (too late !!!)

Thanks a ton

I have no idea if CL allows any waiver in the ED deposit. However, I am sure if both of you got in, something could be worked out.

Another option you have is to apply right after the ED deadline, which is in early OCT. Hence, you dont have to wait till Jan.

However, if you ask me, I would say apply and worry about the deposit once both of you are admitted.

If I were you I would apply now and keep trying to get in touch to them.

I haven't heard of anything like that, and they just ask for the 6k not to hurt their Yield, so if you pay one I think it will be enough, but bear in mind it's just my guess...

I hope you emailed them anonymously.

If not, I suggest you change the email address on your application.

I'm probably overly paranoid, but "you never know"
