Hi experts.
I scored 650( Q- 42 V-37 IR-1)last time I gave Gmat. I have given Gmat today once again. however I have scored 620(Q- 44 V- 32 IR- 4)this time. Now I’m confused whether to keep this score or cancel it since my quant and IR score has improved. At the same time my verbal score has gone south.
P.S. I only have 72 hours in hand in case I wish to cancel, so I’m in urgent need.
Regards
Sandysilva

Hi sandysilva,

Given the facts presented, I would lean toward keeping the score. It shows the extra Quant points / ability, and you definitely need to make up for that 1 on the IR during your first exam. The only way I'd cancel it is if you plan to take the exam again before applying and felt 100% confident that you could (a) boost your Quant again, (b) get a 4 or better on the IR again, and (c) get a better overall score. You'd be betting on yourself in doing so.

But I don't think you need that pressure. You can keep the score and try again, and now that you're growing more and more used to the test -- and with added practice across Quant, Verbal, and IR -- hopefully you can put forth one of your best performances on all of the elements on the same day, which would drive up your overall score. (It's not uncommon to focus on a single area for improvement and then lose a little ground in the other area. So do your best to stay at the top of your game across all of the elements for your next re-take.) I wish you the best of luck with it!

Happy to chat about schools and your application plans if ever helpful: https://www.avantiprep.com/free-consultation.html

Thanks,
Greg

Hi Greg. First of all thank you for writing back. I can thank the whole gmatclub community enough for giving me so much.
I am not planning to give Gmat again. I feel 650 is how far I can get. And I wish to apply with my highest score. Since my over all score trend has seen a decline, starting from 650 and coming to 620 do you think this trend would make adcoms any skeptical about my over all profile or give an impression that my 650 was a fluke?
