Hi Guys,,

In my case I have problems with the verbal section, and I think I can do very good in the Math.

The best score I got in V is 17, but I reached 41 in Q. I am planning to apply for PhD in USA, so I need 600+.

I have two choices:

1- To prepare very much for Q and get very high grade to in crease my total grade.

2- To spend extra time to prepare for the V and try to get around 30.

In your openion, what is better?

Hi mzanbagi ,

Of course it's always ideal to increase your score in both sections, but the reality is that you might not have much time to study. In which academic field are you planning to get your PhD? That might help you make the decision.

Regards,

Elizabeth

If you follow a somewhat balanced prep plan, you should be able to improve both your Verbal and Quant scores drastically. It sounds like you are scoring around a 500, so you have about 100 points to go, which is very doable.

I would think marketing PhD programs would want to see strong verbal skills, so giving verbal 2/3rds or 3/5ths of your prep time probably makes sense.

Check out my guide to self-study: GMAT Clarity (amazon link). It will help you reach your score goal by making sure you prep optimally and don't make prep mistakes.
