I wanted to add my post MBA goals: Immediate Goal is Strategy Consulting Long Term Goal is Entrepreneurship in a technical domain Please evaluate my profile and also suggest if I should retake my GMAT as I think that I can improve my score by 20-30 points.

umab1602 hope this finds you well

On the surface, your profile looks good for ISB. I see a good balance in terms of professional trajectory and brand recall, and Extra-Curricular. I would call for deliberation on your post-MBA goals. You must understand that ISB is somewhat finicky about not having the "perfect" post-MBA goals in your essay 2. If you stand by your goals, you should show that you have done the research and connected with alumni and recruiters to draw insights on the right strategy for this transition. Also, you need to be more specific about your long-term motivation and talk about the exact problems you have seen through your experience that you wish to solve with your Tech entrepreneurship.

A better approach would be to think about what you would like to do in the long term, say 10-15 years from now, and why. Then break down your journey toward your long-term goals into possible alternative career paths (a plan A and a plan B) that would help you to pick the right set of skills on the way.

Hey, I’m yet to take my GMAT. Aiming for a 720+(seems possible). My GPA is 8.4/10 in engineering. Worked in a creative startup for 8 years and lead the product and strategy team right now. Started a side business to help a few people who lost their jobs during the pandemic. Played nationals in chess during my school days. Admin and organiser of the hyderabad boardgaming club since the last 4 years. Volunteered with multiple ngos since my college days. Long term goal is to start a creative for-profit socially responsible retail brand.

Short term goal is to work with an e-commerce company and understand the supplychain logistics part of it. What are my chances at isb?

Hi layakeerthi hope this finds you well

On the surface, your profile looks decent. As you may know, one of the most important criteria B Schools evaluate applicants on is growth potential, therefore you must reflect on how you have demonstrated an upward professional trajectory in the last 8 years working in the same start-up. Your ECs seem to be diverse and I hope you would be able to corroborate your involvement through certificates or letters of appreciation.
I am somewhat unclear about the nature of the work at the creative startup and whether you would be able to connect your experience with your motivation for launching your socially responsible retail brand. However, I like that you have identified the specific role that will help you to experience the building blocks of online retail businesses firsthand. Supply chain planning and logistics is a vast domain, therefore you should be able to elaborate on what all problem areas would you like to delve deeper into from your long-term perspective. From a learning perspective, supply chain network design, in-house product design, forecasting, and analytics are some other areas apart from SC logistics to consider. If you show thorough research and understanding of your short-term professional objective, you will leave a strong impression on Adcom. Feel free to reach out should you need advice.

Yes people do that too..say for CAT, upsc, found the job late etc. Gaps happen all the time, how you project it matters.

I have Online unofficial GMAT Score of 710 Q51V35. Can anyone confirm that whether Online GMAT score is being considered?
I have heard that IIM A is not considering the same this year.

MananS4G on the website of IIMA it only says valid GMAT/GRE score and no information regarding whether taken online or offline

Is it the same for IIM B and IIM C?

and rest of the iims?

And what about online GRE is the also invalid for IIMA?

Hi Vandanaa you seem to have a balanced overall profile, with a differentiated background in QA/production/cost-efficacy in feeder brands. Your undergrad GPA is not your strong suit therefore I agree that you should focus on getting a competitive GMAT score (710+) to compensate for it. What are your post-MBA goals? I feel that both consulting and program management on the supply chain side (analytics, process design, and product) would align well with your prior experience.
Feel free to reach out should you need more guidance.
