How did the interview go? Can you share your experience?

I had my interview with Prof Joe Nellis, who was very cordial. It started with the presentation followed by questions on my career, motivation, personality. It lasted for 40 mins approx, and I never felt uncomfortable during the interview.

That's great to hear. All the best with the rest of the process.

Even I interviewed with Cranfield around that time. The interview was very pleasant and I enjoyed my conversation with the interviewer.

Prof Nellis is too good, an awesome and very well recognized and respected faculty from Economics department.

As an alum of Cranfield FTMBA, I will be happy to take questions, if any.

Thank you for the offer. I have got an admit from Cranfield and Bayes, and I am looking to move into operations. Request you to please share your experience during the program. I need to make a choice between these two. Rankings says Bayes is better but looking at program details and other forums it seems like Cranfield is better in operations. It will be really helpful if you could throw some light.

Thanks!

Hi Sumit

In all honesty, comparison of schools will be unfair for me to do since I am biased (obviously). My background pre MBA was operations and supply chain; I went back to the same field post MBA because that’s was my core.
I don’t know about your background, but remember that changing geographies, functions and industries all together is extremely challenging. So you should try to stick to either the same industry or the same function post MBA. Based on this, do your research on both schools. Ask the adcom to put you in touch with alumni with those profiles. See for yourself which school gives you better vibes.
Rankings are almost fraud (if you go behind the math at play). Of course, someone may call it sour grapes for me.
Hope something here helps you take a considered decision.

Hi Deepak

Thank you for extending your support.
I need your views on two points
1. What makes Cranfield better than other universities, in terms of work opportunities, internships , clubs and also part time work oppurtunities
2. I'm a civil engineer in the real estate sector in India. I have heard Cranfield has a strong standing in engineering fields and research. I'm little skeptical if Cranfield can provide opportunities in real estate management consulting firms.

Can you pls share yr views. Also if u can help me connect with people you knw who have a similar backgrnd as mine will greatly help.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Niveditha

Firstly, congrats on your admit. Now to your queries:
1. I won't say Cranfield is better or worse than other Universities. The selection of a school should be aligned with your career objectives, inter alia. Cranfield has it's own strengths and weaknesses and presumably your research would have highlight some.
Please forget about part-time jobs. In a 1-year MBA, you have no chance to even dream of doing something like this. Plenty of Clubs exist and nothing stops anyone from creating a new Club and running it during the year. Internships and career opportunities won't come to you on a platter (the way some of us are used to hearing about Day 0, Day 1 placements - this doesn't work in any international MBA program). What you sow, shall you reap.
2. Unless you have found reasons or evidence for your skepticism, I would say that the onus remains on you to strategize and execute your plans. With an alumni of 60k+, I am sure you will find some who are closely connected to your target role / industry. Equally, you need to network with faculty and not to forget, the other cohorts (specifically Exec MBA's and MSc.). The clearer you are in perspectives and direction, the sharper your actions and outcome. No one can live your life for you - only you do.

In terms of connecting people with your background, the best part about Cranfield adcom is their helpful nature. Ask them and they will find someone from the alumni network.
Hope this helps.

Good luck and well done!

Hi,
I applied at cranfield and got a reply saying we can't go forward with you on this round, however we have saved your file and we will review it again on the next round.
I wanted to understand is this a standard reply, or do I still have hope of hearing back from them

It is advisable that you don't pin your hopes on a Cranfield admit, and apply in other programs. Any advancements or call backs should be considered as a bonus.
