Volunteering/ECs - break due to military service

Hi All,
I am currently in the military and am in the process of a medical release. I have low level leadership experience here, that I can leverage in the application process, but due to the situation I have been in I gave up my volunteers/extra-curriculars when I joined last Fall. I am still very restricted in terms of activities (no freedoms at night, limited freedom on weekends) so I'm concerned about this gap.
When I leave the training environment, as the medical release is being processed, I want to start volunteering again and regaining my involvement in certain activities. Is this going to be an understandable gap? Or will the admissions committees view it as something I am only doing because of my MBA application?
I'm looking to apply in 2012 to start programs in 2013... thanks!
