Hi there. I'm a marine engineer(merchant navy) and have been sailing since nov'2010 on merchant tanker vessels. I have 37 months of sailing experience as of now.I have 3 times been promoted till now. The gaps are mainly due to exams for upgrading my officer license, and somewhat to fulfill personal commitments when I'm on leave.

Now, my family is at stable position and I want to pursue my MBA goals and switch my career to a shore based job. My technical expertise has been in plethora of machineries installed on a ship, which makes it habitable and fulfill its commercial functions. Therefore I have been thinking of using that knowledge and apply for colleges with better exposure for operations concentration. I have selected MIT, Tepper, Ross, IMD, INSEAD to apply for, after my research in various platforms.

I'm 29 now and will be applying for the intake batch of 2020 or 2021.i have scored 710 in gmat. I plan to retake the test again in the meantime.

Please suggest me to which colleges should I apply for my future goals in operations related field. And how much will my age be a factor?

I wouldn’t wait too much longer to apply. Definitely 2020 at the latest. Age is not a factor now but a few more cycles and you may be seen as an older client. Given your time in the armed forces schools will certainly understand but you will still need a rationale for why now is the ideal time to apply. Your current profile will keep MIT out of play for you but if you can bump your score up closer to their avg score you could be in play. The rest should be in range based on score and work experience alone
