I took the GMAT twice and scored a 660 both times (Q47, V34) and got a 7 on the IR and a 5.5 AWA. In hindsight, I know my GMAT preparation was not great and I'm planning on taking it again in a few months and hopefully scoring at least a 700. I graduated with a 3.7 GPA from a top 50 university. I have 3.5 years of work experience (will be 4.5 when I actually apply to b-school). My goal is to go into consulting (my current work experience is in the CPG industry) and my volunteer experience is so-so (mostly volunteer work with women's organizations)

My top choices are Dartmouth, Northwestern, and the University of Michigan. I also like Carnegie Mellon and Emory. What do you guys think my chances are at these schools? Do you have any ideas of other schools I should target?

With a GMAT score of 700 and an undergraduate GPA of 3.7, i think you can get into any of your target universities. A work experience of 4+ years is ideal when applying for business schools. That being said, what matters is the quality of your work experience. Business schools lay a lot of emphasis on leadership skills in a candidate, be it in their work experience or in extra-curriculars. Do you have any other extra-curriculars apart from the volunteering? How about promotions and leadership roles at your workplace? If you can score over 710, you can also give a shot to other top 10 universities. Also, I suggest you decide your target schools based on your post-mba goals. Start working on your application and apply in R1 next year. Download the free ebook on how to get a top business school at : http://www.interviewbay.com/mba/how-to- ... -ebook.php

Good Luck!
