Ab=8
Value of A:1,2,4,8 then value of b will be 8,4,2,1
Or
Value of A:-1,-2,-4,-8 then value of b will be -8,-4,-2,-1
Value of C not known.. Not sufficient

St-2
Bc=9
Value of B:1,3,9then value of C will be 9,3,1
Or
Value of B:-1,-3,-9 then value of b will be -9,-3,-1
Value of A not known.. Not sufficient

Combine value of B can be -1,or +1
For B +1 value of A can be 8 and C can be 9
For B -1 value of A can be -8 and C can be -9

Not sufficient
E should be the answer

(1) ab= 8
c is unknown
NOT SUFFICIENT

(2) bc= 9
a is unknown
NOT SUFFICIENT

(1) + (2)
(1) ab= 8
(2) bc= 9
If b=1; a=8; c=9
But if b=-1; a=-8; c=-9
NOT SUFFICIENT

Hi

clearly each statement individually is insufficient since each deals with just two variables and that as a product of the two variables.
Thus answer has to be C or E.

Let us take both statements combined
ab=8 and bc=9
We can easily see that all can be negative or all can be positive so E.

bc=9 tells us that both b and c are odd integers
But ab=8=1*8=2*4, so only odd value for b is 1. However bc=1*8=-1*-8, so b can be -1 also.
b=1, then a=8 and c=9, while if b=-1, a=-8 and c=-9.

Different values possible.
Insufficient

Considering ab/bc =8/9 , b can be anything as long as ratio is 8:9 , except 0 as the ratio wouldn’t stand . Hence answer is E because value of b is required
