Since my Peace Corps service ends in May, I really dont know what on earth to do in the 3 months in between. Part of me wants to head back to Boston or DC since I still have a lot of friends there who I won't be able to see much once Bschool starts. Part of me wants to get a summer job since eating pasta, chicken and tortillas every day for 2 years has gotten a bit stale, and I dont want to downgrade to ramen noodles. And part of me thinks I'm crazy if I head anywhere besides the beach.

But for the love of dios people, don't kill yourself trying to get a leg up on studying for your classes, you're going to receiving a top-notch education that is specifically designed for people with different backgrounds, those things will take care of themselves. If you've absolutely GOT to do something constructive, read a few good books or head to a city you haven't visited before, I guarantee such things will let you help out more in a class/group discussion than some old textbook or paper.

PS add me to the ROFLing at the 'not get pregnant' guild. +1

If I enter LBS I'll probably quit my job and try to get a temp (from April until the end of July) one in London maybe at some IB (there are quite a few temp vacancies there) to get some money and a different work experience. Then in August, get back to Portugal and spend almost a month spearfishing and surfing because probably (at least I hope so) this year will be my last one to have such a vacation for at least 2 or 3 years now.

If I get into an ultra-elite I guess I'll take more time off (maybe like a month) because I assume I'll make more money upon graduating. I'd like to travel and visit friends scattered all across the country. I was thinking of doing volunteer work in New Orleans too.

1) Sleep 12+ hours per day for at least an entire week. (I need to repay the principal on the sleep I've been mortgaging to study for GMAT and prepare apps...)

2) Do some strategic consultancy for the family business (2 weeks / part time).

3) Hop on motorcycle, grab some cash and head North.

4) Arrive at least 10 days before start to settle and maybe study a bit.

Cheers. L.

I'm definitely going to Dubai to visit the in-laws and then eventually to Mumbai to see my family.

We're going to try to combine our anniversary with this trip as well so we're thinking about the Maldives as an extension to the trip.

In addition, I also want to catch up with friends that are scattered across the US, try to burn up some FF miles.

My wife will have to quit her Job too, so she'll be focusing on job searches for wherever we end up.

Taking as much time as you can off before joining school is definitely reccomended by most of the students I've spoken to. The numerous clubs/activities coupled with rigorous curriculums and topping it off with internship/job searches will take every bit of energy we have. Anytime we can spend to cool off and get mentally prepared will be worthwhile.

I was going to quit asap, visit friends and sleep on couches. However, I was able to negotiate my way into a china rotation program at work, so I'll be in our Beijing office for 6months. My employer hates turnover, and they were therefore willing to bend over backwards to get those extra months out of me.

How about shotgunning your resume to 2~300 companies just to let them know that you'll be in the market for an intern in about 12 months?
