See attached image (Quadrants)
x>0 means all points to the right of Y-axis
x<0 means all points to the left of Y-axis
y>0 means all points to the top of X-axis
y<0 means all points to the bottom of X-axis

As they have given y<0 so we have to consider all points on the line which are below the x-axis
See attached image (Solution)
So the values of x on the line which are below the x axis will start from x=2 (point (2,0)) and will go on decreasing and will go till negative infinity
so, solution is x<2
Option D

Hope it helps!

What this question is basically saying with relation to the diagram is that any x value that is less than 2 must have a y value that is less than 0 because at (2,0) is the x intercept- in other words this is the cutoff point for y values that are positive. Notice the red dots on the attached diagram. Answer choice "A", for example, is incorrect because there actually are x values that are positive and have negative y values- again, notice the red dots.

It felt like it is more about the knowledge than solving any particular type of value

It just needs the knowledge to understand the graph, U must refer to some topics where u can get knowledge about how to plot a graph , quadrants and labeling the coordinate points
