Slope= (1-0)/(0-(-8/3))= 1/(8/3)= 3/8
we know, Y= mx+b
1= (3/8)*0 + b
then b=1
so, 4= (3/8)*x + 1
(3/8)*x= 3
x= 8

So the area of the shaded region is (1/2)* (4-1)* 8
=12

I find 12, given answer is 8. Can anybody show my mistake...?

Sorry. I have edited the answer. The official answer is E. 12.

From the co-ordinates given we have to find the value of x-cordinate when y=4.
Area of the shaded region = Area of the triangle.

Form eqn of line using the slope m =1-0/0--8/3= 3/8
y = 3/8x+b.
When x = 0 ; y =1; therefor b= 1;
so y= 3/8 x+1;
when y= 4; x= 3*8/3= 8;

Triangle 's area is 1/2*(4-1)*8= 3*4= 12.
