Hoping to gain some insight/perspective on this. But basically, with non grade disclosure at many schools and a fairly diverse student body, how do students differentiate themselves in interviews, on what basis do firms decide who to hire? In undergrad, it was a combination of GPA, extra-curricular activities, and of course personality & fit. In business school however, GPA is undisclosed and everyone is in some sort of activity in one way or another...which leads me to believe it would come down to things like personality/fit, social skills, and career goals?

Obviously for consulting, performance on case questions is very important, and I'm guessing the same for banking. But what about for the other jobs? ie: product management roles, rotational leadership programs, sales/marketing manager type roles...

And for people looking to change careers, ie: engineering to finance, finance to consulting, consulting to banking, etc. - how much does past career history and experience factor in?

I realize this is kind of a drawn-out question, but hopefully someone gets what I am trying to ask. Thanks!
