Question: ratio of bottles sold last year between brand X over brand Y: $$\frac{X}{Y}$$

(1) Last year, if the number of bottles of Brand Y sold had been 7 percent greater, the number of bottles of Brand X sold would be 60% of the number of bottles of Brand Y sold.
So, $$X = 0.6*1.07*Y$$ and by substituting X we have the ratio $$\frac{X}{Y}=\frac{(0.6*1.07*Y)}{Y}$$, this is sufficient.

(2) Last year, 553,725 bottles of Brand X soft drink were sold. This says nothing about Brand Y, insufficient.

Since we have to find ratio, we can assume value here.

(1) Assume no of bottles of brand Y = 100. If Y was 7 percent greater (i.e., 107) then X would be = 60% of Y.
This statement means that if Y=100, then X = 60% of 107 = 64.2. This gives us the ratio as 64.2/100 or 642/1000. Sufficient.

(2) No of bottles of X given, but nothing mentioned about Y. So insufficient. '
