(1) j is even.

(2) j < 9

Statement 1) j is even

Lets assume j = 24, 25/j = 25/24, remainder =1; or j = 22, 25/22, remainder = 3 - not sufficient

Statement 2) j<9
j could be 8 in which case remainder is 1 (25/8), or j could be 7 in which case remainder is 4 (25/7) - not sufficient

Combining statements 1) and 2) - j is even and less than 9.
Therefore all possible values of j are = 2,4,6,8 and in all the cases the remainder is 1 - sufficient

Answer - C

(1) j is even.

(2) j < 9

(1) Lets say j=2, then remainder when we divide 25 by j is 1. But if j=10, then the remainder becomes 5. So Insufficient.

(2) j<9. If we take j=6, the remainder is 1. But if we take j=7, the remainder is 4. So Insufficient.

Combining the two statements, j is an even positive integer less than 9. So j could be one of 2, 4, 6, 8. Interestingly, when 25 is divided by any of these 4 integers, the remainder is always same, its '1'. So Sufficient to answer.

Hence C answer
