What is the total price of one copy of book X and two copies of book Y?
(1) The total price of three copies of book X and two copies of book Y is $19.00.
(2) The total price of 5 copies of book Y is $16.00 more than 3 copies of book X.

(2) The total price of 5 copies of book Y is $16.00 more than 3 copies of book X.
St I
The total price of three copies of book X and two copies of book Y is $19.00.
3x + 2y = 19
Since x and y are Integers, we can have x=5 and y=2 or x=3 and y=5 ---------Insufficient
St II
The total price of 5 copies of book Y is $16.00 more than 3 copies of book X
5y=16+3x
y=(16+3x)/5
so 16+3x must be a multiple of 5 => x=3 since 16+(3*3)=16+9=25
which gives y=5 ----------Sufficient
Hence option B is correct

Statement I
The total price of three copies of book X and two copies of book Y is $19.00.
3x + 2y = 19
Since x and y are Integers, we can have following as solutions :
(i) x=5 and y=2
(ii) x=3 and y=5
(iii) x=1 and y =8
---------Insufficient
Statement II
The total price of 5 copies of book Y is $16.00 more than 3 copies of book X
5y=16+3x
5y-3x = 16
so 16+3x must be a multiple of 5
=> 3x should either give a number ending with 4 or with 9
which gives :
(i) x=3 and y=5
(ii) x=8 and y=8
(iii) x=13 and y =11 and so on.....(As x will increases by 5 , y will increase by 3 )
